Privacy Policy
How Sorato Inc. collects, uses, and protects your information when you use Loqal.
Last updated: June 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Sorato Inc. ("Sorato Inc.", "we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with Loqal Studio, the Loqal websites, and the related APIs and applications (together, the "Service").
Loqal is a spoken-first language platform: you bring text, audio, video, and documents, and the Service transcribes, translates, summarizes, voices, and converses with that content across many languages. Because the Service processes the content you provide — including your voice — we want to be clear about what we collect and why.
By using the Service you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information you provide
We collect the information you give us directly, including when you create an account, subscribe to a plan, or use the studio tools.
- Account information — your name, email address, and organization details, provided through our single sign-on (LoqalSSO) when you register or are invited.
- Content you submit — the text, audio, video, and documents you upload or record so a tool can transcribe, translate, summarize, voice, or converse with them.
- Voice samples and photos — if you choose to use voice cloning or the talking-avatar features, the voice recording and portrait you provide for that purpose.
- Preferences — your preferred languages, interests, home city, pronouns, and other settings you save to personalize the Service.
- Support and communications — messages you send us, bug reports, and feedback.
2. Information collected automatically
When you use the Service we automatically collect limited technical and usage information so the Service works, stays secure, and can be metered and billed.
- Usage and metering data — which tools you use and the amount of processing you consume (for example minutes of audio or characters translated), used to enforce plan limits and bill usage.
- Device and log data — IP address, browser type, and request logs, used for security, abuse prevention, rate limiting, and debugging.
- Local storage — your browser stores session and preference data (such as your studio language) so the Service can keep you signed in and remember your settings. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the Service — process your content, generate transcripts, translations, summaries, synthesized speech, avatars, and live conversations.
- To personalize — order language pickers and seed tools using your saved preferences, interests, and home city.
- To operate billing — manage subscriptions, registration codes, usage limits, and payments.
- To secure the Service — detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- To support you — respond to requests, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.
- To communicate — send you essential service messages, and, only if you opt in, product and marketing emails (see Section 9).
- To meet legal obligations — comply with applicable law and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. AI and machine processing
The core of the Service is automated processing. The content you submit is processed by machine-learning models and language services — some operated by us, some operated by trusted third-party AI providers acting on our behalf — to produce the output you request (for example a transcript, a translation, synthesized speech in your voice, or a conversational reply).
We use your content to provide and improve the quality of the Service to you. We do not sell your content, and we do not use the content you submit to train third-party foundation models for unrelated purposes. Where we engage AI providers, we direct them to process your content only to deliver the requested output.
Automated output can be imperfect. Translations, transcripts, and generated speech may contain errors and should be reviewed before being relied upon, especially in sensitive contexts.
5. Voice, likeness, and biometric-related data
Some features clone your voice or animate a portrait so the Service can speak or render a talking avatar in your likeness. These features are optional and only run when you choose to use them.
When you provide a voice sample, you confirm the voice is yours or that you have permission to use it, and you authorize us to create a temporary voice model to produce the output you request. When you provide a portrait for the avatar, you confirm you have the right to use that image.
We use voice and likeness data solely to generate the output you ask for. You can delete your saved voice sample and photo at any time from Preferences, and deleting your account removes them along with your other content (see Section 8).
6. Storage, security, and retention
Account and preference data is stored in our managed databases. Larger media files (such as audio, video, and generated assets) are stored in cloud object storage (Cloudflare R2) and served to your browser through short-lived, presigned URLs rather than public links.
We use technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal content, except where we must retain limited records (for example billing records) to meet legal requirements.
7. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run the Service:
- Service providers (subprocessors) — payment processing (Stripe), cloud hosting and storage, AI and language-processing providers, email delivery, and analytics for the operation of the Service. They may process your information only on our instructions.
- Within your organization — if you join or are invited to an organization, administrators of that organization may see account, membership, and usage information associated with it.
- Legal and safety — when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or Sorato Inc..
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing.
- Access and update — view and edit your profile and preferences in the studio at any time.
- Delete — request deletion of your account and associated content from the Account page; this also cancels any active subscription. We action verified deletion requests in line with applicable law.
- Marketing opt-out — unsubscribe from product and marketing emails at any time (see Section 9).
- Make a request — contact us at privacy@sorato.group to exercise your rights. We may need to verify your identity before acting.
9. Marketing communications
We will always send you essential service messages (such as billing, security, and account notices) because they are necessary to provide the Service.
Product and marketing emails — news, tips, and updates — are optional. You only receive them if you opt in (for example by checking the email box at signup or enabling it in your account settings). You can change your choice at any time in the Account page or by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
10. International data transfers
We operate globally and may process and store information in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers. By using the Service, you understand your information may be processed in these locations.
11. Children
The Service is not directed to children. You must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
13. Contact us
If you have questions about this Policy or our privacy practices, contact us at privacy@sorato.group or support@sorato.group. Sorato Inc. operates Loqal and the website at https://sorato.group.
